Fighting Hunger One Box at a Time

On Saturday, February 10, 2018, faculty, staff and students joined forces with friends and family members at the Mississippi Food Network. The Mississippi Food Network is a local non-profit organization that has been feeding hungry Mississippians since 1984. They distribute more than 1.5 million pounds of food and feed more than 150,000 people every month.

Saturday’s mission was for the ENT Team to assemble 30 pound boxes of donated food for distribution to over 430 member agencies across the State of Mississippi. The team worked together seamlessly in the main warehouse along with several other volunteer groups.  The end result, an impressive 2,681 boxes of food were packed and readied for distribution; that’s 80,430 pounds of food! The event was a huge success, and those that came out had an enjoyable time while giving back to the community. The Department of Otolaryngology and Communicative Sciences is excited to expand its philanthropic outreach efforts throughout the year.

The Mississippi Food Networks thanks the faculty, staff and students who participated in this extraordinary event, along with their friends and families:
